Heat pumps are in other words… complex. Having a certified, professionally trained, back ground checked and drug tested technician is imperative when taking care of your homes heat pump.

  • Heat pumps can be used with furnace in case temperatures drop below 40 degrees
  • In the summer months not only does it cool your home but it also humidifies it
  • One of the most environmentally friendly systems available to heat and cool your home

How Heat Pumps Work

A heat pump contains 2 separate coils that have refrigerant flowing between them, one located outside in the heat pump itself and one located in the home. Each coil has a specific function, one acts as the evaporator and the other as the condenser. What makes heat pumps be able to both heat and cool is the ability to change the direction that the coolant is flowing, therefore changing the function of the coils. When you have your system set to heat your home, the coil outside acts as the evaporator coil. Therefore it has the task of absorbing heat from outside which is stored in the refrigerant that is flowing towards the coil inside the home. The inside coil is acting as the condenser coil which condenses the refrigerant and forces the heat out of it. If you turn on your air conditioning the functions and flow of refrigerant is reversed which makes it work much like a conventional air conditioner.
